Obedience Training

Obedience training entails teaching your dog specific commands.

All dogs benefit from this training. You'll be able to open your front door without being afraid she'll run out into the street. You'll walk your dog rather than being pulled down the street. Your dog will come to you when you call him. You can even have guests over without Fido jumping all over them.

Obedience training along with some simple behavior modification, will also help with other common puppy and adult dog problems like chewing, nipping, barking, etc.

A program of behavior modification will be needed for those problem pooches with more serious behavioral issues.

OFF:
Prevents jumping up on you or the furniture.

WATCH ME: Get your dog's attention in any situation no matter what
the distractions are.

LEAVE IT: Keeps your dog out of the trash and saves your remote
control or the cat from becoming a chew toys.

WAIT: A "casual" stay. Wait for treats, wait to go out the door, etc.

SIT: The simple sit command can be very functional in everyday life.
The sit command gets immediate control of any situation (jumping up
on people).  Also, sit is the way your dog can say "Please" for the
 things he enjoys.

COME:  The come or recall command is one of the most important commands to teach your dog. Besides being an obvious lifesaver, the
come command can open up a whole new relationship between you
and your dog. Dogs that come consistently regardless of distractions
can eventually earn far more freedom than dogs that do not learn this
 critical lesson.

CLOSE: Brings your dog to your side whether you're standing or
walking.

AUTOMATIC SIT: While walking, your dog will sit every time you stop -
at curbs, etc.

STAY:  Dog will stay in position until given a release. A really good
command for teaching focus.

OKAY: This command releases your dog from a stay, wait or gives permission.

DOWN: Your dog will lie down.

SETTLE: A more comfortable down useful for longer periods of stay.
Use short, clearly spoken commands - don't confuse your dog with too much talk.
"Leave it"
Don't repeat the command over and over - this just teaches your dog not to listen to you.

Use the commands through out the day.

Be patient, consistent and  persistent.
"Settle"
Treats as a reward are much appreciated!!

Have fun!!
